Abstrakty
Kotler's basic assumption is that marketing fails. He suggests its modification into what he terms "humanistic" and "social" marketing. The former consists in earning of profit through enhancement of customers long-run well-being, the latter in serving society's long-run needs, rather than desires of particular customers. The question appears: Does it mean, that Kotler advice marketing managers to argue with consumers about what is their real interest, as well as apparent superiority of society's interest with respect to individual's interest. If this is the case, than Kotler seems to demand something, that is impossible, becouse the only institution, that is able to care for the common good is the government. (original abstract)
