Przedstawiono kierunki wykorzystania odnawialnych źródeł energii w Unii Europejskiej i możliwości wykorzystania biomasy na cele energetyczne w Polsce.

The world population in the year 2100 is supossed to be excess of 12 bilion. With the current trends in technological progress and innovation, the demand for energy is estimated to be five times grater than now. Biomass comprises forests, agricultural crops, organic wastes, residue and effluents of agricultural, agroindustrial and domestic orgin. Biomass fuel obtained from plantations of energy crops as well as forests and agricultural wastes can be used in power plants and is very competitive in price and quality with fossil fuel.
