Abstrakty
Celem referatu jest przedstawienie dwóch regionów przemysłowych, które powstały w oparciu o tradycyjne przemysły, w tym przemysł węglowy, w dwóch różnych systemach gospodarczych i znalazły się przed koniecznością ich głębokiej restrukturyzacji. Autorka omawia pojęcie polityki przemysłowej oraz charakteryzuje przemysł węglowy w Wielkiej Brytanii i w Polsce, z uwzględnieniem porównania przemysłów obu krajów. Następnie analizuje sytuację gospodarczą Regionu North East i Górnego Śląska, a także ich doświadczenia w restrukturyzacji.
The article focuses on industrial regions and problems in their restructuring. The development of these regions has been based on traditional industries for years. Structural transformation of the economy as a consequence of technological, organisational innovations and globalisation of world economy have caused a decline of many traditional manufacturing branches forwarding traditional industrial regions to the margin of world expansion. The case of North East is an example of very difficult process of transformation and deep restructuring that old industrial regions like Upper Silesia have to face. The first part of the article analyses the mining industry in both countries. The second part gives short characteristics of the regions, their sources and experience gathered in the processes of restructuring. (original abstract)
