The paper treats the data on trade between the countries of the (largely extended) "Baltic Europe". The data are subject to analysis aiming at identification of possibly stable ("resilient") structures - subgroups of countries within the Baltic Europe - and their potential evolution. Several analyses are carried out differing by the assumptions behind. The analysis aims at two levels: (i) the sense of the basic notions used (like "region"), and (ii) interpretation of actual exercises carried out. This involves the definition of a region versus the more general question of identification of spatial structures. The conclusions drawn seem to confirm the opinion that while methods may exist which allow for uncovering of definite, well pronounced structures and their dynamics, the specific case of a "region" requires a better a priori specification in terms of both definitions and the range of their potential consequences. W artykule analizowane są międzynarodowe stosunki handlowe między krajami bałtyckimi w celu zidentyfikowania względnie silniejszych ("bliższych") powiązań handlowych pomiędzy poszczególnymi krajami. Tak więc na danych dotyczących zbioru dziesięciu krajów przeprowadzono serię przeliczeń za pomocą algorytmów analizy skupień, otrzymując odporne struktury powiązań i ich zmiany w czasie. Na podstawie otrzymanych wyników można sformułować dobrze uzasadnione wnioski dotyczące zarówno podzbiorów krajów bałtyckich, jak i całego obszaru (postępująca integracja tego obszaru, silne powiązania między Polską i Niemcami, Estonią i Finlandią oraz na trzecim miejscu krajami skandynawskimi). Przedyskutowano na tym tle niektóre zagadnienia związane z analizą powiązań w handlu międzynarodowym, jak również konsekwencje i odpowiedniość niektórych prostych definicji (jak np. "regionu") w zastosowaniu do analizowanych danych. (abstrakt oryginalny)
