Autorzy przedstawili sytuację sanitarną Sanu w Górach Słonnych. Nie jest ona zadawalająca gdyż na odcinku od Leska do Dobrej nie nadaje się do rekreacyjnego wykorzystania ze względu na zły stan sanitarny. Jedna z przyczyn takiego stanu rzeczy jest brak skanalizowania okolicznych wsi. Zdaniem autorów należy także wybudować oczyszczalnię ścieków w Lesku i zmodernizować oczyszczalnię w Sanoku.
The San valley at the stretoh from Lesko to Dobra can gradually unburden the crowed touristic regions. It is an area particularly predisposed to tourism development considering various relief, large percentage of forest areas and climatic advantages. An important recreational quality is also existing a large water-course what is the San river. At above mentioned stretch of the San river there are sites usually used as waterwing-places by neighbourhood dwellers and tourists from adjoining provinces. The San river at the stretch from Lesko to Dobra is not suitable for recreational use considering the sanitary state of its waters. The index eliminating waters of the water-course is Coli test. Microbiological pollution gets into the river as a result of direct drops of muniwpal and industrial wastes to surface waters. (original abstract)
