Omówiono pojęcie postmodernizmu jako kierunku, który charakteryzuje się pewnym myśleniem o świecie. Obejmuje sztukę i naukę i wyjaśnia to wszystko, co składa się na kulturę masową. Omówiono podstawy tego kierunku, jego twórców, przedstawicieli oraz założenia.

Postmodernism is a strong and very popular contemporary movement. Postmodernism, which accepts pluralism as its exponent, is a specific reaction to the cult of modernity and the opposition against the commercial mechanisms created on the market. At present - being a trend or a tendency - it is trying to play an important part not only in creating new phenomena in all kinds of art, but also in leaving its impress on the contemporary science and philosophy. Is postmodernism the new world's ethos? - the author of the article asks. The critics prophesy its end taking the human nature, which - according to their opinions - fails to accept this trend, as ther base for their hopes. The antagonists of postmodernism find various faults with it, but - what irony it is - they do not draw any normative conclusions which remain consistent with the foundations of postmodernism.
