Artykuł zawiera teoretyczne przesłanki wpływu stosowania strategicznej polityki handlu międzynarodowego w warunkach niedoskonałej konkurencji na dobrobyt kraju i gospodarki światowej.

The theory of strategic policy of international trade considers model approaches to the effects of the application of certain instruments of government intervention in the sphere of welfare. Its recommendations refer to the markets where imperfect competition dominates. With certain assumptions, advantages resulting from the application of trade policy instruments prove to be higher than the level of welfare reached under the absence of trade barriers. Rigorous character of the assumptions accepted in the constructed models, deciding about the adequacy of recommendations formulated on their basis, significantly reduces implementation value of the instruments of trade policy. Advantage of free trade, based to a greater and greater extent on this premise, requires increased involvement of international institutions and organisations in the co-ordination of activities in the sphere of trade policies of particular countries in order to smooth out the differences between rationality at the national level and rationality at the global level.
