Problems of Tourist Information Systems Functioning in Poland

Abstrakty
Zlikwidowanie 31 grudnia 1999 roku Urzędu Kultury Fizycznej i Turystyki i przekazanie jego kompetencji Ministerstwu Transportu i Gospodarki Morskiej, spowodowało dezorganizację i chaos informacyjny na rynku turystycznym w Polsce. Autor, po omówieniu zasadniczych elementów i podstawowych zadań systemu informacyjnego w turystyce i scharakteryzowaniu aktualnego stanu informacji turystycznej w Polsce, w związku z koniecznością wprowadzenia nowych mechanizmów promujących krajową turystykę, przedstawił koncepcję Polskiego Systemu Informacji Turystycznej, podzielonego na 14 kategorii m.in.: informacje społeczne, geograficzne, osobliwości przyrody, informacje o zabytkach, religijne i kulturalne, noclegi i gastronomia, ceny, podstawowe adresy i telefony, nahdel i usługi i in.
Proper functioning of all tourist market actors requires, among others, fast flow of tourist information. The lack of such a system in Poland gives rise to many problems on the tourist market. The author presents a concept of local and national tourist information system. With reference to the local level, a special role in creating a tourist information system should be played by territorial authorities on municipal and district level. On the national level, the role should belong to Polish Tourist Organisation and to the emerging regional tourist organisations. However, on both levels it is necessary to involve tourist enterprise (hotels, tour operators, and caterers) into this process. Another important aspect is defining the types of tourist information to be made available on the system, and the requirements imposed on both tourist information staff and computer hardware and software that are to ensure efficiency of the system.
