Treść artykułu, to etologiczne (zajmujące się badaniem warunków kształtowania się charakteru i obyczajów jednostki lub zbiorowości) i socjobiologiczne koncepcje, dyskusje i poglądy koncentrujące się wokół natury ludzkiej. Rozpatrywany jest problem, którego istota sprowadza się do rozstrzygnięcia, w jakiej mierze zachownie ludzkie determinowane jest przez aspekt biologiczny, a w jakiej przez kulturę.
The article discusses ethological and sociobiological conceptions concerning the nature of man as a biological species and a cultural being. It also describes the accompanying attempts to present the history of mankind against the context of so-called social behaviourism. The fundamental assumption of the theories in question is the assertion that human nature is composed of successive adjustments, cumulating in the 'human beast', to the environmental conditions. Maladjustment of the biological nature to the living conditions of the present-day Homo-Sapiens eventually turns out to be the source of a growing crisis of the western technological civilisation.
