Abstrakty

W artykule omówiono oddziaływanie obowiązujących norm prawnych na poszczególne składniki aktywów i pasywów banku. Zaprezentowano również najważniejsze instrumenty poprzez które Narodowy Bank Polski wpływa na banki komercyjne realizując swoją politykę. Uregulowania bankowe zaprezentowane w artykule dotyczą lat 1989-1996.

The activities of a bank are based mainly on legal rules, which regulate various spheres of its functioning, limit the risk but - if too burdensome - can also constrain the development of a bank. Thus, it is advisable to evaluate the effects of legal rules on the amount and structure of assets and liabilities of a bank and, in consequence, on its development. In the paper the author discusses the most important items of the balance-sheet, with regard to the method of its formation and limit requirements, as well as the activities of a bank which are largely affected by legal rules. Among others, they include: ownership capital, all kinds of reserves, and credit volume. The paper also presents the most important instruments by means of which the National Bank of Poland influences commercial banks, thus realizing its policy. The bank regulations presented in the paper refer to the years 1989-1996 and are mainly the provisions of the Polish law. (original abstract)
