Abstrakty

W artykule omówiono datujący się od 1991 roku (upadek Związku Radzieckiego) konflikt japońsko-rosyjski. Proces rozwiązywania sporu terytorialnego można podzielić na dwa zasadnicze okresy. Pierwszy od stycznia 1992 do października 1993 roku, drugi, jeszcze nie zakończony rozpoczął się październikową Deklaracją Tokijską z 1993.

In the present article the author makes an attempt at a presentation of the territorial dispute concerning the territories of the northern (southern Kuryle) Islands in the context of the Japanese-Rusian relations in the 90s of the present century. In the first period of the Japanese-Russian relations, namely 1992 (January) - 1993 (October), the Russian side refrained from serious talks concerning them - President Jelcin postponed his visit to Japan twice - August 1992 and May 1993. In the second period, initiated by the October Tokyo Declaration of 1993, a relative progress in the resolution of the territorial conflict was achieved which, in line with the arrangements made between President Jelcin and Prime Minister Hashimoto during informal talks in Krasnojarsk in November 1997 will be finally settled when the Peace Treaty is signed in the year 2000.
