Autorzy omawiają finansowe instrumenty pochodne takie jak: kontrakty terminowe, opcje i warranty. Przedstawiają także stan rozwoju rynku finansowego w Polsce, a w zakończeniu podają przyczyny mające wpływ na jego niezadawalający stan.

The appearance of derivatives on the Polish market is due to the latter's dynamic development. Derivatives are a characteristic feature of mature markets: the more developed a market, the greater the amount of derivatives on it. In this article, the authors chart the development of the derivatives until 1999. They characterise the main types of derivatives, mainly fixed-term contracts, options and warrants, and identify the reasons for the insufficient development of this market. These include: taxation of profits,high transaction costs, barriers to investment, fragmentation of the Polish market, lack of demand for derivatives both from individual and institutional investors, and inadequate education in the area of finance. Index-linked and monetary fixed-term contracts are the most developed segment. (original abstract)
