Tematem artykułu była analiza napływu poszczególnych form kapitału zagranicznego do Polski w latach 90-tych i ich wpływ na stan zobowiązań płatniczych wobec zagranicy. Autor omówił kolejne formy zewnętrznego finansowania gospodarki Polski: zagraniczne inwestycje bezpośrednie, zagraniczne inwestycje portfelowe oraz zagraniczne przepływy kredytowe i podał wnioski.

The article examines the scales and causes of the foreign capital inflows to Poland in the ninghties. After being excluded from world capital markets during the debt crisis, Poland have received large capital inflows during the past decade. Foreign capital fall into free forms: 1. Foreign direct investment, when a multinational company acquires equity in a domestic business or sets up a completely new enterprise. 2. Foreign portfolio investment - to rise capital for investment a government or a firm can issue bonds to foreign investors. 3. Foreign credit - a government or a firm can borrow money from foreign commercial banks or financial institution. The first form of finance is classified as equity finance, and it does not require the deptor to repay the principal with interest. This form of capital inflow was dominant in Poland during the ninghties and it had a positive influence on polish external balance. However during the last few years there is a slow down in a rate of growth of this inflow. Bond finance and banks loans are classified as a debt finance and they need to be repaid in the future, irrespective of deptor economic condition. (original abstract)
