Abstrakty

Uwaga autorki skoncentrowana została na przedstawieniu istotnych kierunków i efektów przekształceń w polskim przetwórstwie rybnym w latach 90-tych ubiegłego stulecia. Zjawisko to wydaje się bardzo interesujące ze względu na dynamiczny rozwój, jako jednego z działów przemysłu spożywczego, w sytuacji panującego w tym okresie kryzysu polskiego rybołówstwa i silnej tendencji spadkowej wielkości połowów. Pierwsza część referatu charakteryzuje najważniejsze tendencje w polskiej produkcji ryb i produktów rybnych. W drugiej części autorka podjęła próbę określenia skali i kierunków oddziaływania podstawowych czynników kształtujących rozwój tego sektora w dekadzie lat 90-tych.

The article presents an analysis of main factors and trends in the development od Polish seafood processing sector 1990s. The analysis shows the main trends in seafood processing in Poland over the last ten years i.e.: significant changes in ownership structure within the sector resulting from quick privatisation, alteration of the assortement structure of the production connected with increasing share of value added products as well as rising import dependence manifesting itself in growing importance of imported products in raw material supply of the processors. The latter phenomenon enabled the processors, facing strong decline of the Poland's total catch, to increase seafood production. This increase was also stimulated by improving export possibilities. The above described developments resulted in considerable independence on the Poland's fishery but growing significance of the world seafood market. Concluding, transformation of the Polish economy and low level of the domestic consumption were main internal factors influencing the Polish seafood processing sector in 1990s. On the other hand, alterations of conditions within the world's fishery, increase of the world's seafood demand and, to a large extent, resulting from both of them, prosperous trends in the world's seafood market were the main external factors.
