Planowane wejście Polski do Unii Europejskiej wymaga od PKP restrukturyzacji stosownie do Dyrektywy EWG 440/91. W artykule autorka przedstawiła przyjęte lub rozpatrywane kierunki restrukturyzacji europejskich zarządów kolejowych, a także zarysowała wizję zmian w strukturze PKP.
The paper deals with problems concerned with required change directions in the railway transportation in Poland against the background of general directions in restructuring and transformations of European railways. Transformations that should be carried out in the company "Polish State Railways", must serve not only to improve its market standing, but also to adapt it to the level required by the national and international environment of railways. Reformatory works carried out in the Polish railway system are difficult and long-lasting due to numerous barriers resulting from external and internal conditions. There are various directions of activities undertaken in the Polish State Railways company and independent of expected decisions by the state government. (original abstract)
