Autorzy w opracowaniu przedstawiają zależności między zagranicznymi inwestycjami bezpośrednimi a poziomem rozwoju lokalnego. Omawiają kwestię promocji aktywności pomocną dla wzrostu konkurencyjności regionalnej w warunkach polityki strukturalnej UE.

The paper has dealt with the relations and interdependence between the foreign direct investments and the level of the regional development. It has presented the main factors influencing the location decisions within the framework of the theoretical and practical research. The importance of the regional competitive advantage as the decisive parameter has been stressed regarding the various types of the regions, including these declining and lagging behind, which are covered by the regional policy objectives. The issue of promoting the activities helping towards the increasing regional competitiveness under the EU's structural policy and their results along with the future trends concerning the social and economic cohesion have been mentioned.
