The production of energy from biomass helps to use better the production factors in agriculture, to develop the rural infrastructure, to conserve the environment and to diminish the dependence on energy imports. Indirectly it causes the economic growth of rural areas. An adoption of energy from biomass will depend on its competitiveness in relation to fossil energy. The improvement in efficiency of the biomass energy production is needed. (original abstract)
