Abstrakty

Pogłębiające się procesy integracyjne, zachodzące w Europie Zachodniej nakłoniły liderów europejskich partii politycznych do wypracowania nowego modelu politycznego działania. W przypadku partii liberalnych było to manifestowane w formie Międzynarodówki Liberalnej. W pracy opisano genezę i rozwój instytucjonalno-terytorialny Międzynarodówki Liberalnej od okresu poprzedzającego II wojnę światową do czasów współczesnych.

The integration processes under way in Western Europe have prompted European political parties to work out a new, institutionalised model of political action. In the case of liberal parties, this was manifested in the establishment of the Liberal International. In its initial phase, the Liberal International mostly tackled European issues. When it was joined by parties and organisations from Asia, South America and Africa, greater emphasis was put on the problems facing developing countries. Despite certain differences in the priorities of member-parties, they are able to cooperate effectively on the basis of the common values contained in the Liberal International`s key documents. The Liberal International comprises 82 liberal parties, of which 20 are currently participating in government. The member-parties of the Liberal International have a total of three million members working in over 48 countries. The range and depth of activities undertaken by the Liberal International suggestes that in the next few years it will become an organisation of global importance.(short original abstract)
