Proces opracowywania nowych produktów dotyczy w głównej mierze utrzymywania dotychczasowych klientów i jest tożsamy z rozwojem firmy. Dostawcy bowiem zmuszeni są modyfikować istniejące już produkty oraz opracowywać nowe, by zatrzymać swoich klientów, których oczekiwania podlegają ciągłym przeobrażeniom.
