Strategies for Development of Own Brand Abroad
Języki publikacji
Abstrakty
Modern trade chains more and more frequently use own brand in the process of competing with manufacturers' brand. It becomes an important instrument of positioning of the chain and creating its image. Development of trade brands was hitherto more apparent in the European market than in the USA. For this reason, the American chains treat their European competitors as a pattern for imitation. The basic managerial challenge for big chains is creation of such a policy of trade brand that would be competitive in relation to the brands of well-known manufacturers, as success of trade brands depends on improvement of activities comprising their marketing-mix and cohesion of their image. The trade chains introducing own brands cannot already today merely copy the producers' brands (the 'me too' strategy) but they must undertake innovative actions by way of developing networks of partner ties with their sub-suppliers.
