The Impact of Industrial Clusters on Creating New Jobs

Abstrakty
Zadaniem artykułu jest próba określenia przydatności klastrów przemysłowych dla polityki kreowania miejsc pracy. W pracy omówiono problem bezrobocia oraz sposoby jego rozwiązywania, a także wpływ klastrów na rynek pracy w krajach wysoko rozwiniętych.
Combating unemployment can be pursued by protecting existing jobs, supporting troubled industries, intensifying job-search activities by the unemployed, and increasing workplace turnover by decreasing the pensionable age and assisting in the creation of new jobs in the private and public sectors. One factor affecting job creation is industry organised in clusters. An industrial cluster involves the geographic concentration of enterprises that operate in the same or related sectors and are connected with institutions - universities, municipal agencies and financial and marketing services firms, etc. A cluster can support the creation of jobs for the highly qualified as well as for manual labour. These jobs arise in technology firms; enterprises provide services to the cluster core and municipal institutions support the cluster. Thanks to the cluster, new, small firms - an indicator of self-employment - can emerge in the region. (original abstract)
