Abstrakty
EN
Following the fundamental work by Koop, Ley, Osiewalski and Steel (1997, Journal of Econometrics), this paper presents ARFIMA (p, d, q) processes and discusses Bayesian inference on their parameters, the Bayesian approach to choosing (p, q) through posterior model probabilities and Bayesian model pooling. In this paper we examine the series of average yearly temperatures at De Bilt in the period 1707-1989. Four different specifications receive substantial posterior model probabilities, naturally leading to Bayesian pooling. The data strongly support long memory in the analysed series; the averaged over models posterior distribution of the fractional differencing parameter (d) has mean about 0.4 and standard deviation about 0.1.
