Abstrakty

Podstawę sformułowania i utworzenia europejskiej unii walutowej stanowi teoria optymalnych obszarów walutowych Mundella, która precyzuje kryteria niezbędne z punktu widzenia stabilności i trwałości unii walutowej oraz osiągnięcia korzyści netto z posiadania wspólnego pieniądza. Poniższe opracowanie przybliża zagadnienie optymalnego obszaru walutowego w kontekście europejskiej integracji.

The Euro has existed for six years and in spite of the worst-case scenarios it has gained a global market participants' trust and is a strong currency what paradoxically has a negative impact on the economic growth in Europe. But there is no doubt, that the groundwork for the Eurozone is far from the ideal one which is emphasize by the euro-sceptics. The base for creation of the European Monetary Union was the Mimdell's Optimum Currency Areas theory which establishes criteria that are strongly recommended from the perspective of stability and fastness of the monetary union and achieving the maximum net benefits of the common currency. This study presents the important points of the Optimum Currency Areas theory in the context of the European integration.(original abstract)
