In this article the author presents one of the controversial problems in Chinese-Japanese relations - the issue of textbooks. Specifically, it is concerned with history textbook corrections made over the last several decades. Dispute between the two countries began in 1982, and continues today with no prospect for resolution in the foreseeable future. The conflict is so serious that the highest level of government in both countries has taken up the issue. The author attempts to illuminate the cause and scale of the conflict as well as the essential contents of corrections thus far made to textbooks. Finally, he stresses this issue's significance for the younger generation in Japan and offers possible solutions to the problem.
