Abstrakty

Analiza przemian demograficznych zachodzących w Polsce, wraz z analizą danych innych krajów, pozwoliły autorkom na rozpatrywanie demograficznych przesłanek rozwoju żywności funkcjonalnej na polskim rynku żywnościowym. W pracy przedstawiły zarówno świadomość żywieniową konsumentów, jak i demograficzne aspekty jako przesłanki rozwoju prozdrowotnych produktów żywnościowych.

The effect of nutrition on human health and psychophysical well being is beyond the discussion. The thesis of Hipocrates who is called "the Father of medicine" considered food and medicine to be equally important. This thesis has been confirmed by scientific evidence. The level of consumer's health awareness results in nutrient profile acting also as a determinant of their state of well-being and health. The correct diet and proper nutrition approach being closely connected with others factors (such as stress limitation, physical exercise and genetic factors) are related to length and quality of people life. The relationship between diet and the human body condition influences development of functional foods, which is characterized by content of compounds that provide benefits beyond basic nutrition. The analysis of observed demographic changes in Poland as well as the data analysis from other countries allows to take into consideration the demographic aspects of functional foods products development on polish food market. This article presents both the consumer health awareness and demographic perspectives of functional foods products development. (original abstract)
