W pracy porównano poziom i dynamikę cen mleka w Polsce oraz Unii Europejskiej. Podobne porównanie przeprowadzono w odniesieniu do cen produktów mleczarskich. Analizą objęto lata 2003-2004. (skróc. oryg. streszcz.)

The aim of the present study was to analyze changes in the price competitiveness of Polish dairy products observed after Poland s accession to the European Union. The key factor determining costs as well as prices of dairy products is the price of raw materials, so the dynamics of milk prices in Poland was also examined and compared with other EU member states. It was found that the ratio between the average purchase price of milk in Poland and in 15 EU member states increased from 17% in 1990 to 67% in 2001. During the years 2002 - 2003 this ratio decreased, to increase again in 2004. In 2005 the mean price of milk in Poland accounted for approximately 90% and 85% of the mean price of milk in EU-25 andEU-15 respectively. In consequence of lower processing efficiency the differences in prices of dairy products between Poland and the so called old European Union members states became even smaller than the differences in prices of raw materials. This shows that the Polish dairy industry sector will have to use non-price competitive factors to successfully compete on the EU market. (original abstract)
