Abstrakty

The article presents the outcome of a classification of companies and enterprises allocated to (National Investment Funds. The classification made use of a discriminatory function which was estimated separately for companies and enterprises of the I-III installment upon the basis of data for 1994 and separately for companies and enterprises of the I - IV installment upon the basis of data for the first six months of 1995. For data concerning 1994, the assessment of the economic-financial condition of firms was performed upon the basis of the following indices: - current turnover (WPB = current assets/current liabilities), - asset productivity (WPA = sale/total assets), - sale profitability (WRS = net profit/sale), - own capital profitability (WRKW = net profit/own capital), while for the first six months of 1995 - upon the basis of the following indices: - current turnover (WPB) = current assets/current liabilities, - sale profitability (WRS) = net profit/sale, - employment profitability (WRZ) = sale/employment [in thou zlotys per a single employee]. The method proposed in the article provides an opportunity for evaluating the economic-financial condition of an enterprise from the point of view of several criteria simultaneously, and constitutes a basis for the classification of the firms into good, bad and the "grey zone".
