Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono estymację stochastycznych granicznych funkcji produkcji, które dają się sprowadzić do postaci liniowej względem parametrów. Tematy poruszone w artykule to: pojęcie granicznej funkcji produkcji i efektywności technicznej, klasyczna estymacja parametrów funkcji produkcji, szacowanie indywidualnych wskaźników efektywności oraz wnioskowanie bayesowskie w przypadku wykładniczego rozkładu nieefektywności.

The paper discusses estimation techniques for stochastic frontier production functions that are linear in parameters (e.g. Cobb-Douglas or translog). Two simplest classical methods, OLS and Corrected OLS (COLS), represent two extreme prior assumptions: full technical efficiency (OLS) or lack of symmetric error (COLS). Moreover, they do not impose economic regularity. Two other classical methods, Modified OLS (MOLS) and Maximum Likelihood (ML) allow for the composed error structure, but may be difficult (or impossible) to apply for the data at hand. From this perspective, Bayesian inference using Gibbs sampling (proposed for stochastic frontiers by Koop, Osiewalski and Steel) seems a very flexible and numerically reliable alternative. We present an empirical illustration using Polish agricultural data which shows the slight sensitivity of Bayesian posterior results with respect to prior assumptions and the good numerical properties of the used Gibbs sampler.
