Abstrakty

Celem artykułu jest określenie rzeczywistych międzynarodowych skutków wprowadzenia euro, a także ich ocena z punktu widzenia czynników będących wyznacznikiem funkcji pieniądza międzynarodowego. Na podstawie danych Europejskiego Banku Centralnego (EBC), Międzynarodowego Funduszu Walutowego oraz Banku Rozrachunków Międzynarodowych (BIS) ) scharakteryzowano rolę nowej waluty europejskiej w handlu zagranicznym, na rynkach finansowych oraz w międzynarodowej polityce gospodarczej. Zaprezentowane badania dotyczą głównie okresu 1999-2004. W szczególnych wypadkach uwzględniono również dane z lat poprzedzających wprowadzenie euro. Za punkt odniesienia do oceny międzynarodowych skutków wprowadzenia euro przyjęto znaczenie innych podstawowych walut na rynkach międzynarodowych, tzn. dolara amerykańskiego, jena japońskiego oraz głównych walut europejskich przed wprowadzeniem wspólnej waluty.

This article concerns the consequences of the euro currency introduction for the European and world markets. Today the euro currency is the second international currency, so it is very important to understand its different functions. This article also considers the influence on international trade and national economies. There is also mentioned the meaning of the euro currency for financial and monetary markets as the instrument of many transactions. The euro meaning is still more regional than international. The future of euro currency depends not only on European economy, so international agents must take into account world economy trends in order to take advantages when they use euro instead of dollar.
