Abstrakty
W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono unikalne rozwiązania w zakresie pierwszego szczebla systemu bankowego - bankowości centralnej w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Następnie zamieszczono analizę najważniejszych zmian instytucjonalnych w obrębie drugiego szczebla systemu bankowego i banków komercyjnych. Na końcu zaprezentowano najważniejsze instytucje parabankowe w Stanach Zjednoczonych.
The Author analyses the history of establishing, as well as the most important institutional changes, and processes taking place in the banking system of the United States in a division into the first and the second level of banking system (central banking and the commercial banking sector). He pays particular attention to the specific circumstances of establishing the traditional two-level banking system in the United States that resulted in particular specifics and unique qualities of the adopted there solutions. The Author starts with the presentation of the central banking, then he describes the sector of commercial banks, and finally - the most important specific parabanking institutions that had been successfully functioning in the American economy for many years. Also, the article contains the analysis of the most significant legislative changes that in consequence initiated very significant and deep transformations in the entire banking system in the United States in the nineties of the 20th century. They result in consolidation of the branch, increasing number effusions and takeovers, a decline in the number of banks, increasing concentration of deposits, credits and assets in several larges institutions of this sector, and establishment of national banks operation in the United States territory.(original abstract)
