Abstrakty

Przedstawiono zmianę charakteru gospodarki tureckiej na model wolnorynkowy. Omówiono transformację sektora rolnego i reformy w sektorach bankowym i energetycznym. Zamieszczono prognozy dotyczące sytuacji na rynku pracy po akcesji Turcji i unijne transfery budżetowe do Turcji.

Turkey wants to enter the European Union and integrate its economy with the global economy. It is planning to improve its investment climate by making the administrative apparatus more efficient, finishing the monitoring of foreign investments, and by privatising a number of state enterprises, among others, tobacco, telecommunications, energy and banks. In the second half of 2005, talks will begin on commencing accession negotiations (under the condition that Turkey meets the Copenhagen criteria) and the key criteria will be economic factors and implementation of the acquis communautaire. Accession will give Turkey a chance to become a modern, democratic state with large economic potential and an exceptional geopolitical location. On the other hand, the EU will gain an enormous new market, guaranteed energy supplies, as well as military security on its eastern border. The fears or obstacles that exist today, such as a potentially large wave of immigration and influx of cheap, unqualified labour could, in 10 or 15 years, change in character or even vanish altogether.
