The Quantity and Quality of Human Capital in Poland and USA in the Framework of the Manuelli-Seshadri Model. A Comparative Analysis

Abstrakty
W artykule przedstawiono nowy model Manuelliego-Seshadriego. Zastosowano go do oszacowania zasobów kapitału ludzkiego w Polsce oraz porównano otrzymane wyniki z wynikami dotyczącymi Stanów Zjednoczonych. Przedstawiono również miejsce Polski na tle innych krajów oraz wskazano możliwe kierunki modyfikacji modelu, które mogą poprawić jego jakość.
The article is aimed at analyzing the quantity and quality of human capital in Poland as compared with the United States and other countries in the framework of the recent model by Manuelli and Seshadri. A description of the model is given. The analyzed quantities are: the stock of human capital, expenditures and time allocated to human capital formation, the wage rate per unit of human capital (a measure of the quality of human capital which is a central concept of the model) and GDP p.c. Possible modifications of the model have been suggested. (original abstract)
