This article concerns the importance of cultural diversities in international business relationships. In conditions of globalization this problem is becoming more and more important; misunderstandings resulting from cultural differences can be expensive and cause serious complications for cooperating companies. An interest in cultural diversities results both: from practical experience, and from the developing study of the culture importance for the course of economic processes. At first, authors' deliberations concern the basic problems connected with understanding the culture, next the cultural dimensions, mostly in Hallaand Hofstede approach, and finally problems of cultural borders. The author points out the danger of treating cultural differences in absolute categories. In fact, in conditions of joined action (in this case the business cooperation) many shared features exist for partners, and the knowledge about the cultures of different nations can be useful for finding rational compromises, essential in multi-ethnic enterprises. Przedmiotem rozważań autora artykułu są najpierw podstawowe zagadnienia związane z rozumieniem kultury, następnie kwestia wymiarów kulturowych, przede wszystkim w ujęciu Halla i Hofstedego, wreszcie zagadnienia granic kultury.
