W opracowaniu przedstawiono wpływ działalności pozarolniczej na efektywność produkcji i ostateczny wynik finansowy rolniczych spółdzielni produkcyjnych na przykładzie Rolniczej Spółdzielni „Przyszłość" w Starych Bogaczowicach (byłe woj. wałbrzyskie). Stwierdzono że prowadzenie obok typowej produkcji roślinnej i zwierzęcej takich działalności jak remontowo-budowlana, usługi projektowe, melioracyjne, stolarskie, przetwórstwo spożywcze, skup płodów rolnych, mieszalnia pasz czy handel znacznie zwiększyło rentowność badanej spółdzielni, stabilizując jej sytuację ekonomiczną. Poland has generally good conditions for agricultural production, in spite of prevailing medium and poor quality soils, and insufficient water reserves. The Polish agriculture has been affected by long-term negligences in the protection of natural environment, but a large part of the territory of Poland has good ecological conditions for the production of high quality food products. Polish farms are generally smaller and less productive than those in developed countries of West Europe, but great differences between separate parts of Poland in farm size and productivity level take part. Poland is generally self-sufficient in food production but has many non-utilized reserves; there are as many as 1.5-2 mln ha of fallow land and a considerable part of production of fruits and vegatables is wasted every year because of underdevelopment of processing industry and trade. The agriculture in Poland is less intensive than in Germany and France, but its high production of fruits and vegetables and good quality of products create opportunities for export, especially in view of recent disease problems in beef cattle in many European countries.
