Abstrakty

W artykule opisuje się proces wzrostu zróżnicowania współczesnej ekonomii oraz twierdzi się, iż jednym z istotnych czynników stymulujących jego przebieg jest rozwój ekonomii kosztów transakcyjnych, która umożliwiła wejście do głównego nurtu ekonomii pojęć, wcześniej obecnych wyłącznie w nurtach heterodoksyjnych. W pierwszej części artykułu wprowadza się definicję zróżnicowania teorii ekonomii, a następnie, analizując treść najważniejszych czasopism ekonomicznych, pokazuje się, iż w ostatnim ćwierćwieczu XX wieku istotnie zwiększyła się liczba elementów ekonomicznego explanans i explanandum. W dalszej części artykułu rekonstruuje się proces wchodzenia pojęcia kosztów transakcyjnych do teorii ekonomii, a więc zarówno budowania modeli równowagi ogólnej uwzględniających koszty prowadzenia handlu, jak też samej ekonomii kosztów transakcyjnych Olivera Williamsona. Następnie, m.in. na przykładzie sukcesu nowej ekonomii instytucjonalnej, pokazuje się, iż ekonomia kosztów transakcyjnych istotnie przyczyniła się do wzrostu zróżnicowania ekonomii. Artykuł zamyka refleksja nad możliwym wpływem postępującego zróżnicowania ekonomii na poziom akceptacji dla pluralizmu w ekonomii. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The article describes the process of the growing plurality of modern economics. It is argued that one of the main stimuli of that change was the growing popularity of transaction cost economics which eased the entry into mainstream economics of what previously had been present only in heterodox economics. After providing a definition of theoretical plurality it is shown that the number of elements in both economic explanans and explanandum has substantially increased. What follows is an inquiry into the ways in which the idea of transaction costs entered mainstream economics. Subsequently, it is claimed that transaction cost economics as put forward by Oliver Williamson served as a theoretical bridge between mainstream economics and heterodoxy. Finally, some methodological insights on the possible interplay between plurality and pluralism in economics are offered. (original abstract)
