Abstrakty
The institution of deposit guarantee has been controversial in the past and was sometimes even blamed for increasing moral hazard. The recent crisis, however, taught us that they are indispensable for depositor confidence and thus for maintaining financial stability. Moreover, some other important lessons had to be learnt: namely that the framework of deposit insurance in the EU as established in 1994 needs substantial modernisation to reflect the developments of the past sixteen years as well as to meet the challenges of the future. We are convinced that the proposals brought forward by the Commission represent a significant enhancement of the post-crisis financial architecture and regulation. (fragment of text)
W artykule omówiono problem konieczności zmian w systemie gwarantowania depozytów w Unii Europejskiej w kontekście kryzysu finansowego. Polepszenie systemu zabezpieczeń będzie miało bezpośredni wpływ na poziom zaufania depozytariuszy.
