Abstrakty

Portugalia należy do grup państw, które od momentu integracji ze strukturami Unii Europejskiej po dzień dzisiejszy uzyskują pomoc strukturalną w największym zakresie. Jednocześnie jest to kraj, który w ciągu ponad dwudziestu lat członkostwa nie tylko nie rozwiązał swych problemów gospodarczych, ale dodatkowo coraz większe problemy pojawiają się na funkcjonującym w miarę dobrze do tej pory rynku pracy. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie przemian dokonujących się na rynku pracy w portugalskich regionach oraz wskazanie czynników, które stanowiły istotną barierę na drodze rozwoju. Portuguese integration with the European Community was a giant step on the way to modern economy. The accession of the country to the European Union brought a lot of economic advantages especially thanks to EU structural funds, which were used to improve the physical infrastructure, labour forces and capital stock but still there is no great reduction of economic and social disproportions between Portugal and the rest of EU countries. This lack of success is noticeable not only on the state but also on the regional level. In the mid 80s most Portuguese regions had less problems on the labour market. Nowadays analyzing Portuguese regions situation we can say that the integration with the European Union was only a partial success on the way to modern economy. (original abstract)
