Podstawowym celem niniejszego opracowania jest próba zobrazowania ważniejszych zjawisk demograficznych, które miały miejsce w Nowej Hucie w latach 1950-1965. Jednym z głównych zadań było przedstawienie nowohuckiej ludności w aspekcie demografii potencjalnej. Chodziło tu przede wszystkim o określenie całkowitego i częściowego potencjału życiowego ludności Nowej Huty oraz jego zmian strukturalnych w czasie. (fragment tekstu)

An analysis of the more important phenomena concerning the population, which have taken in the area of Nowa Huta, in the years 1950 - 1965, is carried out in the present paper. Considerable attention was given to the investigation of the developmental dynamics of the number of the population and to its structure as to age and sex. It was stated, as a result of this analysis, that the development of demographic relations in Nowa Huta was strictly connected with the processes of internal migration. The author arrived at the conclusion on the basis of ample statistical material that the favourable structure of the Nowa Huta population and its considerable biological resilience were the result of the internal migrations of the population, especially of the rural population. The author described the demographic relations of Nowa Huta from the point of view of potential statistics and compared them with the conditions of the population exising in the remainig quartes of Krakow. In the authorls opinion, the structure of these relations in Nowa Huta is very favourable, although it is an abnormal one and bears the features of impenmanence. The author expresses the opinion that, from the moment when migratory processes on a large scale will cease, the population of Nowa Huta shall undoubtedly present, in an ever greater degree, the character of an aging population.
