W pracy omówiono podstawy koncepcji funkcji śladu (ang. footprint function) i obszaru źródłowego (ang. sourcearea) turbulencyjnych strumieni ciepła jawnego i ciepła utajonego mierzonych metodą kowariancji wirów. The paper presents basis of the concept of footprint function and source area for turbulent fluxes. The problem is important for urban areas characterised by significant surface inhomogeneity. Knowledge about source area allows interpreting results of flux measurements with consideration of the influence of different surface types. The idea of source area comes from the work of Pasquill but in the present work source area, on the level P is understood as defined by Schmid and Oke as the smallest possible area to account for a given contribution P (e.g. P=0.5 or P=0.9) to the measured value at height zm. Different models can be used to determine footprint function and source area. Three analytical models are used in this analysis: FSAM - the model presented by Schmid, which belongs to the most widely used in studies on urban climate; model presented by Haenel and Grunhage with different formulation of scale parameter and cross-wind integrated footprint function, and model given by Hsieh et al. being a result of scale analysis of outputs from more advanced Lagrangian model.(…) All three models give very similar results. Significant differences appear in the stable stratification domain, but lack of possibilities empirical verification does not allow to point the best model. However, FSAM is the most widely used model and therefore it can be recommended for urban areas to ensure results comparability. (short original abstract)
