The paper is devoted to the issues of competitiveness and innovation in two large emerging economies: China and India. The main purpose is to deliver context of the evolution of knowledge and technology in newly industrialised economies. Various measures are applied in order to identify technological and scientific potential of this group of countries. Both development of scientific infrastructure and changes of soft skills in China and India are analysed in the paper. One of the crucial elements studied in the paper is the role of multinational enterprises in the process of technology accumulation in emerging countries.(original abstract)

Artykuł ten został poświęcony zjawisku konkurencyjności i innowacyjności w dwóch dużych gospodarkach wschodzących: Chinach i Indiach. Głównym jego celem jest wskazanie kontekstu rozwoju wiedzy i technologii w nowo uprzemysłowionych krajach. W celu identyfikacji potencjału naukowego i technologicznego zostały wykorzystane różnorodne wskaźniki (np. liczba patentów, nakłady na badania i rozwój). W pracy tej został uchwycony zarówno rozwój infrastruktury naukowej, jak i zmiany w miękkich umiejętnościach. Jednym z kluczowych elementów poddanych analizie w tym artykule była rola korporacji transnarodowych w procesie akumulacji technologii w krajach wschodzących.(abstrakt oryginalny)
