The article presents the results of detailed analyses of the dynamics of the basic parameters that characterise the labour market; it means the coefficient of economic activity, the employment rate, the unemployment rate and long-term unemployment rate for the group of countries newly joining the European Union. Apart from the construction of trend line for the mentioned parameters the analysis includes also the forecasts of their values for the nearest years, calculated by means of several independent methods. A separate part of the study is the evaluation of the influence of the parameters that characterise the labour market upon the basic economic and social processes. (original abstract)
