Abstrakty
Open innovation has since the beginning of this millennium gained still larger attention and interest among researchers as well as business leaders. In search of more efficiency and speed in enterprise innovation - open innovation, where enterprises include external ideas and stakeholders in the efforts to become more innovative is today regarded as one of the routes to reach these objectives. Large US enterprises are among the pioneers of open innovation practice and General Mills (US) represents one of these large enterprises that have conducted open innovation since 2007. Based on participation in one of General Mills open innovation meetings with potential innovation collaborators the author got a first-hand experience from how and with what means General Mills conduct open innovation. This article tries based on a case-study of open innovation at General Mills to add reflections of practice and efficiency to the existing pool of knowledge. (original abstract)
