Abstrakty

Losy projektu lokalnego ze sfery określanej w Republice Federalnej Niemiec jako kultura przemysłowa (Industriekultur), obejmującego kompleks kopalni węgla kamiennego Unia Celna (Zollverein) w mieście Essen, a w szczególności jej szybu nr XII (Zollverein Schacht XII) posiadają dramaturgię i meandry, wzloty i upadki, stanowią intrygującą historię tworzenia się ważnego projektu restrukturyzacyjnego, opartego na modernistycznych koncepcjach integracji kulturowej, private-public partnership oraz przenoszenia poziomu decyzyjnego na coraz niższe poziomy aż po przekazanie własności terytorium i obiektów projektu fundacji zajmującej się wyłącznie tym projektem.(fragment tekstu)

This article deals mainly with the problem of the local development projects in the Ruhr Area. The renovation of the closed coal mine "Zollverein Schacht XII in Essen is presented as an example for this problem. The different phases of the project have been analyzed, from the plans of closure by the owners, the cause of industrial culture in the monument department of NRW, which supports the old industrial objects' existence, to the negotiations between coal company and the town council, as far as the work at the project. Moreover, the author mentions how the development projects have been organized and conducted. There is also mentioned the improvisation in the first years of the project. Besides, the project gains the European architecture award and the "Zollverein XII" joins the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. The article emphasizes how the restructuring projects of old industrial areas took place. It also shows the trend of destroying the line of business, and how it lead into big interests in art and local identity, maintenance of industrial objects and the change of them into a new, brilliant art, tourism and commercial enterprise.
