Celem artykułu jest ukazanie perspektyw modernizacji polskiej gospodarki w obszarze sektora winiarskiego, w nawiązaniu do zmian w regulacjach prawnych dotyczących wspólnotowego oraz krajowego rynku win, które znacząco wpłynęły na poprawę sytuacji na tych rynkach, a polskim producentom otworzyły realną drogę rozwoju. Owing to the polish membership in the European Union, bringing the wine produced by polish vintners, with the use of just domestic grapes, on to the market, concerns not only obeying the national rules, but also the regulations of the Community. In recent years, mainly as a result of numerous changes in the European legislation as well as in complementary polish regulations, which rule the common wine market, the significant increase in interest has been observed when it comes to winemaking. The most crucial change for Poland was undoubtedly the inclusion of the entire area of our country to the A zone of viticulture in December 2005 and - as a second - the amendment to polish regulations in July 2008, concerning excise tax and winemaking. The former change enabled polish vintners to produce wine from grapes planted on their own to destine to the market. The latter change makes the wine producers (who make wine in the amount of no more than 1000 hl per year) free from obligation of conducting tax warehouse and having expensive laboratories. In the law regulations of winemaking sector, which concern all the European Union Countries, there were also important changes. They were the result of producers competing on the world wine market and huge excess of wine in the Community that led to decreasing of quality. In August 2008 by virtue of ordinance Council of the European Union, regarding common wine market system, there was a reform introduced. The first of all aim was to make the European Union producers competitive, then empower the wine market and finally to equalize supply and demand in the sector. (original abstract)
