Abstrakty
Analysing the newest theories, the article presents some views on the possible sources of competitive advantage of enterprises. On the basis of these considerations a conclusion is made that the sources of competitiveness of multinational entities result from combining their particular position in the world with adequate competences which consist, among others, in an ability to integrate and coordinate an international strategy with a skill to adjust their operations to the specificity of the host markets. The article focuses on two significant (in the authors' opinion) sources of competitive advantage of multinational entities. These are: - ability to coordinate operations dispersed all over the world which ensures appropriate diffusion of the previously worked out competitive advantages, using benefits coming from the local markets and integration of an entity as a whole on strategic goals, - ability to learn and generate new competitive advantages through a quick response to the new trends emerging in the environment. Apart from abilities to coordinate and to learn, the article touches on the question of flexibility as a feature necessary to respond quickly to changes in the environment. (original abstract)
