In the article a new approach to tnę independence of continuous random variables is presented. This approach is ótrongly connected with the multiplicative separability of a density function or distribution function of joint distribution. New definitions are introduced of independence of continuous random variables (random vectors). It was proved that these definitions are equivalent to the classical ones. Using general criteria for separability of functions, criteria for examining independence of random variables as well as methods based on these criteria are obtained. These methods are arithmetically easier than classical ones In, the easiest of proposed methods examining the independence of random variables consists in examining one equivalence. When i t turns out that random variables are independent, the proposed method allows to calculate marginal distribution densities calculating (n-1) integrals, where n is a number of random variables.(original abstract)
