A jeśli tak to jakie są oznaki tego kryzysu oraz jakimi innymi formami życia rodzinnego jest zastępowane małżeństwo? (fragment tekstu)

Poland is a country where until the beginning of the nineties of the 20th century a traditional model of marriage, based on first marriages dominated. However, from the beginning of systemic transformation we observe rapid changes in the processes of entering into marriage, its duration and breakdown. On the basis of Demographic Annals of The Central Statistical Office for the years 1988-2002 and electronic publications of NSP 2002, this article presents changes in the structure and dynamics of the processes of entering into marriage and marriage breakdown in Poland in the years 1988-2002. Analysis of the empirical material based on the basic measures of demographic analysis concerning intensity of nuptials was divided into five parts: people who have been married at any time in their lives, number and structure of marriages, number and structure of first marriages, number and structure of divorces, and informal relationships. The analysis indicates that within the period of 15 years considerable changes occurred in matrimonial behaviours the symptoms of which are: lower intensity of entering into marriage, both the first and subsequent, higher median of the age of first marriages, increased number of informal relationships and increased number of divorces.
