Even though a job loss was a great intervention into the lives of a majority of people in the 1990s, many came to an understanding that dismissals were closely related to the freshly acquired political freedoms and to the transition to a market economy, which would be internationally competitive and where changing jobs would be an objective necessity. those features and unemployment, which were mostly related to the past development of our society, came to the front. these elements influenced strategies of human behavior and frequently hindered adequate reactions to the new labor market conditions. At a personal level these resulted in reduced feelings of civic responsibility, insufficient self-reflection, thought rigidity and also in living through the previously not experienced job change or job loss.
