The article analyses a thesis that people's influence on the accomplishment of objectives of certain social structures, i.e. various social groups, led to emergence of the concept of social capital in the 20th century. This capital - similarly to the capital hidden in the means of production -does not originate from nothing but is a result of some investments made deliberately in the entities operating in various social structures i.e. people.
