The article discusses the possibilities of making use of callable bonds and putable bonds in managing the interest rate risk. These financial instruments are an example of innovation within the sphere of buy-up of bonds including the so-called built-in option. The built-in bonds call option and put option, in the face of the situation of divergent interest of issuers and investors serve them to secure themselves against the risk of interest rate variations which are difficult to forecast. The pricing of these products is possible by the decomposition for individual elements and synthesis of their payments profiles. The complex structure of the discussed bond is also manifested by a specific character of its price variations in comparison with the straight bond. (original abstract)
